Project Description

The City of Englewood is collaborating with BHA Design to plan future renovations at the Pirates Cove Water Park. The east end of the water park (competitive pool location) is set to undergo significant improvements aimed at enhancing the overall guest experience and promoting sustainability. These updates will feature exciting new slides for thrilling adventures, a relaxing lounge pool for those looking to unwind, and infrastructure enhancements to improve water efficiency. New pavilions will offer shade and comfort, making it an ideal gathering spot for families and friends.


Estimated Cost of Improvements: $6,300,000

Background Information

In March 2017, Englewood City Council adopted the Parks and Recreation Master Plan to serve as a road map for future park development/redevelopment and provide a balance of facilities, amenities and recreation programs for the next 10 years.

In July 2023, the Department of Parks, Recreation, Library and Golf updated the 2017 Master Plan Recommendations Sections (Chapter 3) to outline key improvements to Englewood's parks, opens spaces and facilities to meet the current needs and issues of the community.

    As the Pirates Cove summer season starts winding down, we have some exciting news to share about the future of Pirates Cove!

    Thanks to the Parks and Recreation Bond, the Bay Pool is getting a state-of-the-art remodel. We are completely updating the space, removing some outdated features and bringing in modern attractions to give you the ultimate water park experience next summer!

    Here is what you need to know as we wrap up this season:

    • Closed starting August 10: We officially wrap up our current season and close the gates on August 9. Come out and get your splashes in while you can!
    • Construction Kickoff: Crews will be taking over the site shortly after closure to begin the remodeling work.
    • Grand Reopening: Construction will run through fall, winter, and spring with the brand-new Pirates Cove scheduled to reopen next season in 2027!
