Old Hampden Improvements
The City of Englewood is making significant upgrades to Old Hampden Avenue to enhance its infrastructure and create a safer, more welcoming corridor for everyone. These improvements are being carried out in two major phases:
Phase 1: Utility Improvements (January 2025–February 2026)
The first phase focuses on replacing aging underground water, sanitary sewer, and stormwater systems to ensure reliable service for years to come.

Phase 2: Complete Streets Project (Spring 2026–Spring 2027)
The second phase redesigns Old Hampden above ground with ADA improvements, better sidewalks, upgraded bus stops, and traffic-calming features, creating a more accessible, safer environment for all travelers.

Crews will move to Grant Street the week of December 8 to install a new stormwater inlet at the Old Hampden and Grant Street intersection. This traffic control is expected to remain in place through the duration of the inlet installation.

Crews will continue upgrading aging utility infrastructure along the corridor, including water and stormwater pipes originally installed in the 1950s. These systems are nearing the end of their useful life and have contributed to water main breaks and storm-related flooding in the area.
