Project Overview
The West Dartmouth Multi-Modal Safety Improvements project will modify the W Dartmouth corridor from S. Platte River Dr. to S. Zuni St. The project will seek to improve the corridor for alternative forms of transportation such as bicycling, walking and bus transit. The project will modify the existing pavement markings to implement bike lanes, reconstruct curb ramps to meet ADA compliance, replace the traffic signals at Zuni St. and Tejon St. and add improved street lighting. The project will leverage the recently completed Zuni St Bike Lanes and the S. Platte River Trail at either ends to create vastly improved connectivity for bicyclists in the area. This project was identified in the Englewood Walk and Wheel Plan and the Arapahoe County South Platte River Connections Study and will provide a key connection between Englewood neighborhoods west of Santa Fe Drive and east of Santa Fe Drive.
Project Schedule
The city’s consultant has completed the 100% design plans and specifications and is working to secure necessary easements to request clearance to bid with CDOT.
The city anticipates advertising the project for construction in early 2026.
Project Funding
This project has two sources of funding: Federal funds awarded via grant through the DRCOG & CDOT Safer Main Streets Initiative and the City of Englewood Public Improvement Fund. The funding breakdown is as follows:
$1,260,000 (Federal)+$315,000 (City of Englewood)=$1,575,000

The project is in final review by CDOT and revisions are being made to address those comments. The project has been split, with the current plans to modify only the intersection ad Dartmouth and Tejon. The intersection at Dartmouth and Zuni remains in process and may be done at a future date.
The current schedule is to obtain final CDOT clearance and to bid the project at Tejon in Fall, 2026.
