4.1.21 Project Update

US-285 & S. Broadway Users,

This email is the third update in a series of monthly updates regarding the US-285 & S. Broadway Interchange Reconstruction Project.

In the last month, the project team continued work on establishing existing conditions and obtaining environmental clearance while also beginning work on refining the interchange geometry. The geotechnical team completed analysis of the bridge soil borings and provided recommended foundation and retaining wall types to the structures team. The traffic team has submitted a draft traffic analysis report for review and approval by the City and CDOT. The environmental team has conducted their historic review and is working with CDOT and the State Historic Preservation Office to obtain clearance. The project team began developing the alternative screening matrix to evaluate which interchange configuration best satisfies the goals and constraints of the project. Mapping of the subsurface utilities in the project area continued.

Going forward, the team plans to refine the geometric layouts of the interchange alternatives and select which alternative to proceed with in final design. The team will look to begin developing conceptual designs for the aesthetic details of the bridge and surrounding landscaping. The environmental team will gather field data for the noise analysis portion of the environmental review. The structures team will begin developing a structure selection report to determine the most suitable bridge and retaining wall types. As the recommended alternative becomes clear, the drainage team will begin developing drainage and water quality designs.

Lastly, the City recently launched an online public engagement platform called Englewood Engaged which features the US-285 & S Broadway Project. We encourage anyone who’s interested in this project to register for Englewood Engaged and use the platform to stay connected and up to date on the project. The platform offers a central location for general project information, past project updates, related documents, and schedule information. Furthermore, the project team may solicit public input through online surveys conducted on the Englewood Engaged platform.

Thank you for your continued interest in the US-285 & S Broadway Project.

Best,
Englewood Public Works
