Project Description
The City of Englewood is designing a 2.5-mile-long multi-use path along the Southwest Rail Corridor. The trail will extend from W. Bates Avenue and connect to the Big Dry Creek Trail (just west of the intersection of S. Windemere Street and W. Layton Ave.) Two pedestrian bridges will be included in this design to separate cyclists and pedestrians from vehicular traffic. The bridges will span Hampden Ave. and Dartmouth Ave. to connect the rail trail.
The trail will serve to expand Englewood’s pedestrian and bicycle network while promoting the use of the Englewood Light Rail Station. The Trail was identified as a key infrastructure improvement in the Englewood Walk & Wheel plan and will help to achieve the following goals:
Ensure Walkability
Develop a system of non-motorized trails and paths that are safe, separated from vehicular traffic and connect the entire city.
Increase ridership on RTD transit options in Englewood
Pursue zero vehicular, pedestrian and cyclist deaths.
This project is slated to go to 30% design then will allow the city to pursue grant funding to move this project to 100% design.
Project Map
Project Timeline
The preliminary design will be complete in November 2024 and the design will be 30% complete by February 2025.
Data Collection and Environmental Review until October 2024
Preliminary Design and Alternative Analysis until November 2024
Stakeholder Outreach starting August 2024
Public Outreach starting August 2024
Beginning in April 2025, the City and our consultant will begin exploring grant opportunities to fund the final design and construction of this project.
