February 2025 Update

Hello,

Between now and the last Good Neighbor Committee meeting there have been many meetings and conversations. Here are a few updates and the January 2025 version of the GNA has been posted as well.

1. Discussion and decisions will be made regarding the yellow box in our next meeting. In the meantime, a neighbor installed rubber lining on the doors to lessen noise and Movement 5280 staff has been organizing it and cleaning the area. The following will be decided on:
   1. Moving it.
   2. Painting it.
   3. Better signage that it is a community pantry.
   4. Locking it at night.
   5. Maintenance, cleanliness of the area.
2. Meetings between Movement 5280, the City and Englewood Police have resulted in a trespass agreement being put in place and signage purchased to post trespass information.
   1. A trespass agreement is a common agreement between a police department and a business. It gives police discretion and the ability to help move people along from a property without staff being present, when the business is closed. In this case it is the church when no one should be on the property.
3. The City met with several neighbors to hear their concerns and discuss possible solutions. Many good ideas came from that meeting and they will be explored.
4. Englewood Police has asked that anyone (neighbor, concerned citizen, Movement 5280 employee, business) calling for police to respond to leave contact information and request follow-up. If the person calling would like to remain anonymous that is fine, but providing a phone number, which of the above you are and that you want follow-up from the responding officer is important. Its crucial for calls of concern to have an understanding of the outcome.
