Project Description

The City of Englewood is collaborating with OLC to renew the Englewood Recreation Center. The upcoming renovation plans include several exciting improvements, including refreshed locker rooms, enhanced pool facilities, a new steam room, and a spa/hot tub.

Due to unforeseen costs, pickleball courts at the Englewood Recreation Center (ERC) will no longer be part of the Renew & Recreate project. These funds will be redistributed to install an updated elevator in the facility, add a cold plunge to the new hot tub/spa area, and update the floor tile in the main hallway. Redistributing funds did not come lightly, but the decision was made with our residents in mind. Creating a welcoming environment for all is the top priority.

While it might be disappointing to see the ERC pickleball courts removed, there are new pickleball courts being installed at Belleview Park. The ERC courts would have required an Englewood Recreation membership to be utilized, while the courts on the west side of Belleview Park will be free to use. Also, there are free courts at Colorado's Finest High School of Choice at 300 W. Chenango Avenue that Englewood residents can utilize for free as well.

Background Information

In March 2017, Englewood City Council adopted the Parks and Recreation Master Plan to serve as a road map for future park development/redevelopment and provide a balance of facilities, amenities and recreation programs for the next 10 years.

In July 2023, the Department of Parks, Recreation, Library and Golf updated the 2017 Master Plan Recommendations Sections (Chapter 3) to outline key improvements to Englewood's parks, opens spaces and facilities to meet the current needs and issues of the community.
