Project Overview
Dartmouth Ave. between Broadway and University Blvd. is a collector street that includes intersections with higher-than-normal crash rates in the city of Englewood. This segment is also a major bicycle and pedestrian corridor throughout the city. The City applied for a Federal Highway Safety Improvement Project Fund grant through the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) and was awarded $1,080,000 to investigate and construct improvements to address these safety concerns.
The primary goals of this project are to reduce crashes at the currently signalized intersections at S. Logan St. and S. Downing St. and enhance the overall multi-modal safety throughout the project area. To meet these goals, the city is installing the following improvements.
Fully reconstruct the S. Logan St. and S. Downing St. intersections and replace with mini-roundabouts.
Install paint and post intersection improvements along the corridor to create smaller turning radii for vehicles as well as protect cyclists and pedestrians with vertical elements.
Other minor traffic calming and complete street design elements are included within the project area to support the overall goal of this project. The City has contracted with the engineering firm Consor Engineers, LLC (formerly Apex Design) to perform the design of the corridor.
Project Location
Project Intersections
S. Logan St. Mini Roundabout
S. Downing St, Mini Roundabout

Project Schedule
City staff, along with our consultant, is working to secure the necessary CDOT clearances to advertise the project for construction bids. This includes obtaining environmental clearance, utility clearance letters and right-of-way clearance. The city plans to advertise the project for construction in summer 2025.
Project Funding
This project has two sources of funding: Federal Highway Safety Improvement Project Fund and the City of Englewood Public Improvement Fund. The funding breakdown is as follows:
$1,958,000 (Federal HSIP) + $652,000 (City of Englewood) = $2,610,000
