Project Description
The city is planning safety enhancements at Fox St. and Oxford Ave. by installing a new pedestrian crossing signal. A traffic study has been completed for this intersection to evaluate and identify potential solutions.
The project is currently in the early planning stages as City Council reviews the findings. This page will be updated with a more detailed project description once a final decision on the project's direction is made.

We’re making the intersection of Oxford Ave. and Fox St. safer for everyone. The project introduces two HAWK signals and reimagined ADA ramps that guide pedestrians into a consolidated crossing. What is a HAWK signal? A HAWK (High-Intensity Activated Crosswalk) signal is a pedestrian-activated beacon used at crosswalks on busy roads to safely stop traffic.
On the east side of the intersection, new concrete curb extensions (bump-outs) will narrow the roadway and provide a natural traffic-calming effect while reducing pedestrian crossing distances by approximately 25%. Combined with new high-visibility markings, these upgrades address critical safety needs for this designated Safe Routes to School corridor and neighborhood bike route.
What’s Next? Design is nearly complete (90%). We expect to start the construction bidding process this summer and start construction in Fall 2026.
