September 2026 Update

Trail Closures and Detours for Next Phase of City Ditch Piping Project
The City of Englewood is scheduled to resume construction this fall on Reach 2 of the City Ditch Piping Project. The project will replace portions of the open City Ditch with buried pipe to improve the reliability and efficiency of Englewood’s water supply.
Reach 2A is scheduled to begin in fall 2026 and will extend north from a manhole on the St. Mary’s Catholic Church property to Ridge Road. Much of the new pipe will be constructed within the existing City Ditch. Construction will require a temporary closure of the Littleton Community Trail between Ridge Road and Lower Ridgewood Park. Trail users can utilize the detour along West Euclid Ave, South Prince St, and West Ridge Road for the duration of construction. The Lee Gulch Trail in Lower Ridgewood Park will be partially closed during construction as equipment and materials are carried across the park. Please adhere to all signage, fencing, and/or flaggers in the area. The trails closures and detours are expected to begin in October and reopen in spring 2027.
Englewood and its contractor, Hudick Excavating Inc. (HEI), are committed to protecting the safety of the public and contractors. Here are some things you can do to be safe:
- Be aware of fenced-off construction areas and watch for signage.
- Stay away from construction/storage sites and equipment.
- Keep children and pets away from work areas and equipment.
- Talk to your children. Let them know construction sites are dangerous, and they must avoid the temptation to explore or play on the big equipment and piles of dirt.
- Drive with caution around construction areas. Follow the speed limit and be alert for changes in traffic patterns.
- Adhere to signage information for walking trails and bike routes.
Englewood will provide additional updates as construction progresses.
